In fact, humans are the only animals that willfully choose not to sleep, consequently disrupting our inherent circadian rhythm. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, people who sleep less than 7 hours each night have an increased prevalence of obesity, heart disease and attacks, stroke, asthma, COPD, cancer, depression, arthritis, kidney disease, and diabetes.
